Why Silk is the Best Material

I love dyeing silk pillowcases most of all. I started using silk pillowcases over 21 years ago when my mom me bought one for my birthday. It was this amazing, gem toned colored tie dye she got from a lady at festival - who is still around and I’ve since vended with! It so perfect for my 14 year old self. I took it to college in Santa Cruz, packed it in my luggage while living in Italy and it moved to Oregon with me where it was on my bed when I met my now husband. I used it until it was threadbare. I had this pillowcase from my young adult years, through heart ache and falling in love and I'm sure I cried into it a time or two. Needless to say, silk pillowcases hold a special place in my heart and I hope that I can create one for someone out there who will love theirs as much as I loved mine.

Indulging in the luxuriousness of silk pillowcases isn't just a lavish treat, it's essential for pampering your skin, hair and overall well-being. Ideally, we spend 7-10 hours in bed each night, so why not make that time as soft and nurturing as possible?

The soft and smooth surface of a silk pillowcase is gentle on your skin, eliminating the likelihood of waking up with morning wrinkles and will reduce the appearance of fine lines over time. Did you know that all protein fibers, including silk, contain a naturally occurring chemical called sericin which promotes the production of collagen in your skin? Supporting your hair and skin as much as possible ensures we age as wholesomely and gently as possible!

Silk also boasts moisture wicking properties which means instead of slowly absorbing your natural hair and skin oils over night, silk repels them, keeping your precious hair and skin nourished and hydrated for those 8 hours of dreamtime. And they're whisper soft against your hair, preventing frizz and breakage and ensuring you wake up coiffed and ready to go - curly friends, this is a game changer!

Since silk worms create the silk strand to protect themselves from the elements during their hibernation and transformation, so does silk do for us. It’s never hot, never cold and engineered by nature (and silk worms!) to be the most comforting, supportive and nurturing material, always keeping us comfortable; cool in summer and warm in winter.

Silk pillowcases make amazing gifts - it's not just a present, but a gesture of pure affection and comfort. Moreover, silk naturally carries a high vibrational energy, creating a serene atmosphere for a peaceful night's sleep. So, dive into the sumptuousness of silk - your skin, hair, soul and loved one will thank you for it!
